Great because it's faster and LIGHTER
I'll let others talk about the functionality (as they have done so well here)... I want to address the ergonomics. This is a great product because it is faster and even more important to me... LIGHTER. This is a great gift for your parents or grandparents because it's much lighter than the 1G ipad and it eases the strain on their arthritic joints in their wrists and their hands.

As big an improvement as the Kindle 2 was to the Kindle 1.
